Online Project

Progressing your skills beyond the simple Granny square, in this 3- part online course you will be learning how to make my Bracken Cushion.

I have designed this pattern using a combination of two beautiful squares by Carmen Heffernan and Bori Varga which both explore exciting new stitches, e.g  front post treble st and “popcorn” stitch which you may not have tried before.

The sessions are spaced out fortnightly in order to give time between to make the squares.

• Session 1: Square 1 by Carmen Heffernan
• Session 2: Square 2 by Bori Varga

In the final session we will  be looking at ways of joining the finished squares and adding a border to “frame” the crochet piece.

• Session 3: Joining and border techniques

In the online sessions  I will demonstrate how to make the designs and will also show you some new techniques such as the magic ring, invisible joining and standing double stitch for perfecting your crochet skills further.

There will be time for Q&A to ask about any specific areas of the pattern and to help you with your crochet skills.

Each zoom session will be recorded and after it I will send you a link, so that you can watch it in your own time, as many times as you wish. The recording will last for 28 days before it will be automatically deleted.

Bracken Cushion

Bracken Cushion is made with a combination of seven yarns using a palette of beautiful blues and earthy tones. The detailed Pattern Pack provides clear instructions on how to make the  squares as well as a colour- plan indicating the combination of colours for each one.

As an alternative colour-way I have also put together Winter Heather a combination of soft pinks, purples and browns.

NB. When choosing this kit you will be need to substitute the shade names in the colour-plan. 

Winter Heather Cushion 30 x 50 cms

When all 8 squares are completed they will be joined and “framed” using a mixture of stitches. The project is then completed by hand-sewing the crochet piece onto the front of a ready-made cushion cover.

A silver-grey velvet cover is included in the Bracken Kit to coordinate with all yarn colours.

• 7 x 50 gm balls Scheepjes Stone washed 4 ply yarn in the following colours;

Bracken Shades – Lemon Quartz , Enstatite, Yellow Jasper, Amazonite, Smokey Quartz, Obsidian, Blue Apatite
