If you are comfortable using knit and purl stitches , you will be ready to explore ways of adding colour into your knitting using Fair Isle, the traditional colour-work technique.

Iona Cuffs are a perfect project if you are new to Fair Isle. Knitted on straight needles, you will be using a Fair Isle chart and combining two coloured yarns throughout. When you have completed each cuff, simply sew up the sides leaving a gap for your thumbs.

    Isla Hat & Iona Cuffs using a combination of different fair isle patterns that work beautifully  together 

The design for these cuffs uses the same yarn as my Isla Hat pattern and would be a perfect follow-on project using Fair Isle techniques knitting in-the-round. With the 2 balls of wool in your kit, you can knit a pair of Iona Cuffs and Isla Hat.

I have chosen a lovely soft Aran-weight yarn by Rowan, in five beautiful colours, Floss, Pumice, Cement, Bitter Sweet and Cherry Red. All work to complement each other in the different combinations below.

You may not finish your cuffs in the class but with your kit, you will have everything you need to take away to complete at home. After the workshop, I will send you a PDF pattern with links to my step-by-step videos which you can watch in your own time and work through at your own pace.

Iona Cuffs  Kit: 2 x balls of Rowan Kid Classic Aran (choose colours when booking) needles, darning needle, pdf pattern & Fair Isle chart.

Cost of 3 hour Class: £58 includes all materials (Iona Cuffs Kit) tea, coffee and delicious homemade cake

Of course if you would prefer to bring your own yarn and materials just choose the option when booking.

 

This workshop will be given in The Colour Factory, a creative hub in the centre of Winchester, home to seven resident artists.
