Knitting your first jumper can be a slightly daunting prospect. In this course of 5 x 2 hour classes you will learn everything you need to know step by step for making your first garment with time in between to prepare for the next class. With expert guidance you will learn new and essential skills whilst also gaining the confidence to make many more beautiful jumpers in the future.

Skills you will learn include;

• knitting a tension swatch (important for ensuring a good fit)
• looking at a variety of new stitch combinations
• reading patterns and understanding abbreviations
• shaping techniques (armholes, sleeves and neckbands)
• making up
• picking up stitches for neck bands
• blocking knitted pieces
• setting in raglan sleeves
• making up and sewing up seams using mattress stitch

In this course you will be knitting my pattern, the Sampler Stitch Jumper. Taking a simple classic raglan jumper design, I have added a selection of different bands of stitches to the front and back of the jumper. The bands ~Dots, Eyelets & Lace can be added or omitted depending on how confident you are as a knitter or how creative you wish to be.

During this KAL (Knit-Along) course you can choose to knit a simple plain jumper pattern or add your choice of sampler stitch bands to the design as you go along.

The jumper is knitted in Rico essentials alpaca blend chunky a beautifully soft, light chunky yarn which comes in a gorgeous range of colours. When you have booked your place I will send you a colour chart so that you can choose your colour.

Jumper Kit ~ Size 1 (size 32-34″ bust): Cost £43

7 x 50 gms. balls of Rico alpaca blend chunky, stitch holder, size 5 mm & 6 mm knitting needles, Pattern Pack, darning needle.

Jumper Kit ~ Size 2 (size 36-38″ bust): Cost £48

8 x 50 gms. balls of Rico alpaca blend chunky, stitch holder, size 5 mm & 6 mm knitting needles, Pattern Pack, darning needle.

Of course if you would prefer to bring your own yarn and materials just choose the option when booking.
