Patchwork Sampler Cushion

I have been playing with new ideas for a KAL 4 class course for the new year. I was thinking about a blanket course but can see this is a huge commitment to take on in both knitting and time.

Looking at ways of scaling down this idea I have designed this Patchwork Sampler Cushion. Of course this pattern could easily be scaled up for those that wish to make a blanket.

I have knitted a selection of individual squares using 6 different stitches.
During Classes 1-3 I will teach the different stitch techniques ~ 2 different stitches & squares per session, with “homework” of knitting 2 more squares for the back of the cushion.
In the class 4,  we will look at ways of sewing the patchwork together and adding different borders- either crochet or knitted.

I have been trying out different yarns. I have knitted my first sampler cushion in aran. Although lovely and soft, I feel the texture needs to be firmer for the stitches to really pop and for the cushion to keep its structure and shape.
I am going to try using cotton yarn for a different textural effect. I’ll keep you posted…..

  1. Hi Becca, this project looks lovely and covers stitches I’d be very interested in learning. I look forward to hearing more details. All the best, V

  2. Hello

Could you tell me the cost of the Patchwork Sampler Cushion course and where it would be held? Also would it be an evening class?

Many thanks and I look forward to hearing from you.
