Always wanted to crochet but not sure where to begin?

This 3 session project-based Beginners Course will teach you everything you need to know to get you started. To keep things simple, all the materials are provided for making 2 lovely projects, a cute Granny Square Pin Cushion and a cosy pair of Simple Mitts.

Come ready to begin your crochet journey!

After each workshop you will be emailed a comprehensive worksheet/pattern giving you links to my video tutorials showing you all the different beginner techniques to watch in your own time and work through at your own pace.

We will begin with the Granny Square, a vintage classic and the building block of so many crochet patterns.

Week 1: Beginner Basics 

• how to hold the hook.
• how to make a foundation chain.
• slip stitch.
• Treble crochet (Tr).
• to read simple pattern reading.
• Begin your 1st project Granny Square Pin Cushion

Week 2: Building on Beginner Basics 

• how to begin your squares using the Magic Ring technique.
• how to add new colours with Standing Treble joining technique.
• ways of joining your 2 Granny Squares together
• darning in ends to complete your pin cushion

Week 3: Wrist Warmers

Simple Mitts are made using a cosy Aran-weight 100% wool (choice or colours)

• building on basic techniques
• having been working ‘in the round’ you will now working in rows.
• using turning chains when working back and forth.
• more simple finishing off techniques. (blocking etc)

(All materials will be provided in the class)

This workshop will be given in The Colour Factory, a creative hub in the centre of Winchester, home to seven resident artists.
