FLORA
Combining pretty bands of Fair Isle patterns and using traditional stranding techniques to create a contemporary boxy pullover that has a classic retro feel.
Fair Isle is traditionally knitted in the round with the right-side of your work always facing you. This not only makes it easier to follow the chart but at the same time you can enjoy seeing the patterns emerge as you knit each round.
Flora is worked from the bottom rib up, knitting the complete colour-work pattern in the round, before dividing and knitting back and forth for the armhole and neck shapings. The neckline and armholes ribbings are then knitted in the round to complete.
I have chosen 6 pretty complementary colours using Rowan Felted Tweed and given Sizes 1-3 (Finished bust measurement, size 1: 36″/size 2: 38″ size 3: 40″).
In the Autumn I will be planning a series of Flora workshops working with this pattern and Fair Isle techniques….if you can’t wait until Autumn, then you can buy the Flora pattern now to enjoy knitting!
