Have you always wanted to learn to knit but not sure where to begin? This Beginners course taught over 2 three hour sessions, is an ideal introduction to the basic skills needed to start knitting.
Week 1: Learn how to cast on and be introduced to the two most important stitches, knit and purl. Also how to combine stitches to add textural effects- (garter stitch and stocking stitch) and begin simple pattern reading.
Week 2: Continue working on techniques from Week 1, as well as looking at simple finishing techniques- including casting off, “blocking” and sewing up your work (mattress stitch seam).
By the end of the 2 classes you will have learnt the basic techniques and with your Beginners Kit you will have everything you need to take away to complete your first knitting project~a chunky cotton tea cosy.
Beginners Kit: 1 x 100 gm ball of Chunky cotton yarn (choice of colours), pair of wooden needles, ribbon, darning needle and pattern.
Cost for 2 x 3 hour classes (6 hours in total): £65
Includes all materials (Beginners Kit) tea, coffee & cake.
Of course if you would prefer to bring your own yarn and materials just choose the option when booking.
