CAL Course of 3 Classes

Looking beyond the simple Granny square, in this 3 part CAL (crochet-along) course you will be learning how to make a Bracken Cushion inspired by all things autumnal…icy skies, pumpkins, autumn leaves and bracken. I have combined 2 beautiful square designs by Carmen Heffernan and Bori Varga.

In each class we will work on a new design exploring many new stitches e.g front post treble st and “popcorn” stitch and techniques such as the magic ring, invisible joining and standing double stitch.

In the final week we will  be looking at ways of joining the finished squares and adding a border to “frame” the crochet piece. The workshops are spaced out fortnightly in order to give time between to make the squares.

Bracken Cushion is made with a combination Scheepjes Stone-washed yarns using a palette of beautiful earthy tones. The detailed pattern plan provides clear instructions on how to make the  squares as well as the combinations of colours for each one. When all 8 squares are completed they will be joined and “framed” using a mixture of stitches.

Finished Cushion 30 x 50 cms

The finished crochet piece will then be hand-sewn onto a ready-made velvet cushion cover to finish.

Cost of 3 x 2.5 hour Class: £85 includes tea, coffee and delicious homemade cake.

The Bracken Cushion Kit:  £48 includes everything you need to make and complete you cushion;

~ 7 balls of yarn, ready made velvet cushion cover, cushion pad, 3.5 size crochet hook and detailed pattern pack.

Of course if you would prefer to bring your own yarn and materials just choose the option when booking.
