SUMMER at THE COLOUR FACTORY

I love lighting candles for the garden during the summer months and these delicate tea-lights are a perfect summer project to enjoy making. I have designed these little covers with a pretty lace pattern which will gently diffuse the candle light.

A recycled Bonne Maman jam jar is a perfect size for your tea-light and a great excuse for enjoying a cream tea with lots of delicious jam!

If you feel confident reading a pattern and can work knit & purl stitches, then Lace-work is a wonderful technique to explore.

On a simple level,  lace is made up of a series of holes arranged in patterns formed by a combination of increasing stitches and decreasing stitches. It takes a bit of concentration to begin with, but with practice is a lovely skill to work with.

To keep things simple, all materials will be provided in the workshop,

  • 1 ball of cotton yarn (choice of colours).
  • Pot of Bonne Maman Jam
  • set of wooden knitting needles.
  • tapestry needle to darn in ends.
  • worksheet & pattern.

Cost for 2.5 hour class: £48 (includes all materials, tea, coffee & delicious homemade cake.)

This workshop will be given in The Colour Factory, a creative hub in the centre of Winchester, home to seven resident artists.
