A new course  for Autumn ~ Aran-knit-along.

In this course of five 3 hour classes you’ll learn everything you need to know step by step for making a gorgeous chunky cabled cardigan ready for Winter. with time in between to prepare for the next class.

This class is for those who have learnt and feel comfortable with the basics of knitting and want to develop their skills of Aran cable knitting. Cables create wonderful textures and patterns and are made by swapping the order in which you knit your stitches and by crossing one set over another. Knitted cables are much simpler than you might think but add enormous textual impact to your knitting.

With expert guidance you will learn new and essential skills whilst also gaining the confidence to make many more jumpers in the future.

Skills you will learn include;

• knitting a tension swatch (important for ensuring a good fit)
• reading patterns and understanding abbreviations for a chunky aran pattern
• shaping techniques (armholes, sleeves and neckbands)
• making up
• picking up stitches for neck bands
• blocking knitted pieces
• setting in sleeves
• sewing up seams using mattress stitch

This cardigan (using an original Sirdar pattern) is knitted in a lovely chunky yarn (acrylic & merino wool mix) from the Yorkshire based knitting company, James C.Brett. When you have booked your place, I will send you a colour chart so that you can choose your colour.

Course Cost: £85 

In the kits below you will have everything you need for knitting your Aran cardigan. As this is an Improvers Class I have not included the needles (sizes 5.5 circular needles and 6.5) in the kits. If you require them then please choose this option when booking.

Jumper Kits

Small (size 10-12) ~ Cost £32

6 x 100 gms. balls of  Chunky wool, cable needle, darning needle, pattern.

Medium  (size 14-16) ~ Cost £35

7 x 100 gms. balls of  Chunky wool, cable needle, darning needle, pattern.

Large (size 18-20) ~ Cost £38

8 x 100 gms. balls of Chunky wool, cable needle, darning needle, pattern.

All the classes include coffee, tea and homemade cake.
