Handmade Christmas

Handmade gifts are incredibly special, not just because of the effort and skill,  but also the sense of care and time that goes into making each one.

With the lead up to Christmas I have selected a few of my favourite patterns, which would make beautiful gifts. Scroll down to find out more about each project.

CROCHETED PROJECTS

The Welsh term ‘Cwtch’ (rhymes with ‘butch’) was a favourite word used by my Welsh Granny Mary when describing a cuddle or hug. It felt the perfect word to describe beautiful cosy pieces to make for your home.

As part of my Cwtch Homewares, Cwtch Cosy is a new design, knitted using Aran or cabled stitches.

Although it may look complicated, cables are simply made by swapping the order in which you knit stitches and by crossing one set of stitches over another. This fun project can be made in quiet afternoon…

Another piece in my Cwtch Homewares, is Cwtch Cushion. I have designed this stunning cushion pattern, for those who have learnt the basics of crochet and want to explore new combinations of stitches for adding wonderful textural details into their crochet work.

Another gorgeous cushion is the Bobbles Cushion, made again in cosy chunky yarn. This uses a combination of simple stitches to make Bobbles and Stripes.

KNITTED PROJECTS

What could be more lovely than knitting a pullover as a beautiful gift for someone special?

Flora is a contemporary boxy pullover with that classic retro feel. It combines pretty bands of Fair Isle patterns and uses traditional stranding techniques.

ACCESSORIES

If you a looking for something smaller and that will not take very long to complete, then hats and wrist warmers are a great option.

One of my most popular designs, Isla is another traditional stranded colour-work project.

Isla uses just two colours and by changing the order of the colours you can create two very different effects. In this  pattern I have given you two colour work charts so that you can knit both hats in either colour-way.

Alongside the pattern, I have added a series of my Video Tutorials which will help you with the different techniques needed for the project.

Iona Cuffs, knitted in the same deliciously soft Rowan Kid Classic yarn as the hat. Together they would make a perfect combination.

WINTER PATTERN 2 for 1 OFFER

Bella Beanie and Bella Scarf, are two lovely aran projects to enjoy knitting. They both use a combination of cable and mock cable slip stitches.

I hope whatever you decide to make,  you enjoy the time making it and the pleasure of giving it to someone special.
