I have always loved the exquisite work by the Parisienne crochet designer Sophie Digard. She always works with such a beautiful palette of soft colours in a range of muted fine yarns to produce the most delicate shawls and scarves.
You can see Sophie Digard at Loop www.loopknittingshop.
I think these flowers and colours are so beautiful~each leaf and petal crocheted individually.
I made this pretty little necklace many years ago using fine embroidery silk yarn and a size 2mm hook.
I have been looking at her work for inspiration for an Autumnal crochet project using a combination of soft colours and yarns.
Working so often with chunky cotton and wool yarns, it has been lovely working with fine 2 ply wool and a size 2.5mm crochet hook. I have chosen to use a beautiful lace yarn, Drops Lace which is a combination of 70% Alpaca and 30% Silk.
Having made simple square blocks, I have been trying to decide what to do with my first trial pieces. I feel these simple glass frames display the delicate yarn and stitches well, allowing the light to come through.
Exquisite! I think it is really effective, love the frame and lightness of touch and would love to have a go myself 🙂
Well done! More ‘needle art-work’ 🙂
Thanks Catherine- I’ll certainly be adding this as a new crochet class for my MiW Autumn calendar!
